on their way to Perryville


Photograph of Katmai people with Reverend Alexander Petelin (wearing beard, center of photo on the right), in 1912.
After the 1912 Katmai eruption, the Sugpiat people of Katmai moved to a village site on the Alaska Peninsula
they called Perryville for the captain of the ship.

Very good condition, Some bronzing in the bottom half of the image.

Stamp box is Velox diamonds, circa 1907-1914.
The photograph was probably taken on the Dora.
It looks like the name "Dora" is on the lifeboat.
