Juneau Alaska plique-a-jour sterling souvenir spoon in the gothic revival style. American plique-a-jour spoons are rare, and this is a magnificient, early, Juneau example. Alaska plique-a-jour spoons are exceedingly rare. It measures 4 inches long and is marked "STERLING". The glass plique has no missing cells.   In 1880 a Sitkan, George Pilz, grubstaked Joe Juneau & Richard Harris.
They went north were the Tlingit Indians led to the gold in Silver Bow Basin.
They staked the beach as a townsite and returned to Sitka.
Juneau was born.
Circa 1890's
About 5 1/2 inches long in very good condition.
